Care Packages
Care or welfare packages are much appreciated by members of our Armed Forces serving overseas. They're a huge boost to morale, particularly when they come from people other than their own families who want to show that they care too. To find out how you can send a parcel please visit theCare Packages page. Our parcel scheme is run in conjunction with BFPO who endorse the parcels that we send.
Messages of Support
Messages or letters of support to our troops are always welcomed and we're happy to forward these on for you. Feel free to include your name and address if you wish to do. We can't guarantee that you'll receive a reply, but the important thing is, you will show one of our boys or girls that they're being thought about. The letters should be left unsealed and sent in an outer envelope to Head Office.:
Get Well Messages
We're in very close touch with the Medical Centres in Afghanistan who have requested Get Well cards for the injured and sick there. If you'd like to write a get well card or message for one of our brave boys and girls we'd be pleased to pass it on for you. Again, feel free to include your name and address if you wish to do so. Cards and letters should be left unsealed and sent in an outer envelope to Head Office.
Fundraising
We much appreciate every fundraising effort that's made on our behalf. And basically, as long as it's legal, and ethical, then that's okay with us. If you'd like to organise a fundraising event we can supply you with banners, merchandise and leaflets to help your efforts. So please do get in touch to let us know of your plans and we'll help all we can. In the first instance please email events and we'll point you in the right direction!
Stamp Appeal
Joy, our representative in Barnsley is kindly coordinating a new Appeal for used stamps. This is a very simple way of raising funds and doesn't require huge efforts! All you need to do is save all your used postage stamps, not just the British stamps but all of them. Tear or cut closely round the stamps, pop them into a container until you have a decent bundle and then send them to us. Please use our PO Box address shown above and mark the envelope SOS Stamp Appeal. Or if you have an A/C close then you could pass the stamps to them for forwarding on.
Hand Made Cards
We're very sorry but due to the overwhelming response we've received to this appeal we can't accept any more general hand made cards for the moment.
Christmas cards will be accepted, but please could we ask that you send small quantities and not bulk lots. Closing date for these is Friday 29th October.
Any Christmas cards received after this date will not be sent out this year.
Hand made cards are sent out to Afghanistan for the boys and girls to send home to their loved ones. As you can imagine they don't have a great deal of choice out in theatre so the cards are much appreciated. These are placed in communal areas to be used as needed. We recommend A6 size, wrapped in cellophane. We recommend general birthday or neutral cards which can be used for any occasion. They should have a very simple message or be left blank inside. No glitter please. Just a word of caution, whilst the cards are very much appreciated, we ask you to send to us in small numbers rather than bulk quantities. The cards should be sent to the address shown above. As with our Parcel Appeal, it would be costly to write to everyone who sent in cards for us. So if you would like an acknowledgement please enclose either a stamped addressed envelope or an email address.
Make a Donation
It really is only with the invaluable support of individuals, organisations and companies alike that we're able to carry out our work and donations are much appreciated. Funds are used to send care packages to those serving on overseas operations, to help family members and to generally support our Servicemen and women and their families as defined in our Charity Objects. Our Appeal is run through Justgiving and donations can be made using the link below -
Alternatively cheques or postal orders made payable to Support Our Soldiers may be sent to us at our Head Office address above.
