their support on Friday including The Friday Night Lads, they came up trumps

meal at the Toby.
Georgia and her friend Leoni ( both 9yrs) have written messages of support
for our troops, Georgia and Leoni also "sponsored" a cool tie each, they

Saturday 7th June - SOS Stall at Blaby Carnival, Leicester
It's been a very busy week for Amanda and all her wonderful team in Leicester. This is a report by Natalie -
'On Friday night we went to speak to a group of kids at a youth group in Leicester about SOS. They have already collected quite a few care packages together for us already and are keen to do more!! Mandys son gave them an account of what it was really like in Afghan, and this really brought it alive for them - so well done to him!! The kids were really interested and went away with a real understanding of who we are and why what we do is so important for the troops out there in the sand. Obviously after all that effort we had to follow it up with a trip to the pub, still in SOS t-shirts of course!!!!!
Then today (Saturday) we've been to Blaby Carnival in Leicester, along with Sheree and her gorgeous family. As we were setting up, the rain started coming and we had a sense that the whole thing might be a flop. However, slowly but surely it dried up and the sun started to shine for us, and we had a lovely day.
The support there was incredible, it really brought a tear to my eye, knowing that there are so many people behind my o/h and all the troops out there. One guy even emptied the entire contents of his pocket - and they were big pockets lol - into Mandy's tin Bless him !! I managed to get rid of all the shoe boxes that we took along and Sheree's family emptied the whole tombola table !! Mandy had the entire population of Leicester wearing ribbons simultaneously, if a plane had gone over i'm sure the whole field would've looked yellow - Karen, you'd have been proud !!' We would indeed have been very proud, and girls you've done a magnificent job. A wonderful £186.97 raised!

Sunday 8th June -
Sponsored Walk from Tavistock Roker Hotel to Tavistock Restaurant South Shields
A fabulous day and the amount raised to date an amazing £5,035.35. THANK YOU to Lyndsey Urwin at the Tavistock in South Shields for arranging such a FANTASTIC event for Support Our Soldiers.
Lyndsey not only arranged the 8 mile sponsored walk but also "after our walk entertainment" which included a Raffle and Tombola, thanks to all companies that donated items to use as prizes and of course the helpers that spent the afternoon selling tickets for both of these stalls.
As you can see the children were able to have a good bounce around to get rid of any energy they had left on the lovely bouncy castle. Lyndsey had also arranged a BBQ and a beer tent which was great, everyone was very hungry and thirsty after their long walk. Big thanks to the Tavistock staff for their help. On the completion of their walk Lyndsey supplied fresh fruit and water which was gratefully received as it was a hot day, walkers also received an S.O.S. Awareness Week pin badge. Live singers were organised also Brassneck was the name of two of the singers, sorry not sure of the names of all the live singers but THANKS for all of your tunes and support, you all sounded great.
Lyndsey had also organised a balloon release, they became entangled but both Joyce and myself thought they still looked great floating up and away over our beautiful sea.............wonder if they have reached Norway yet?
South Tyneside Pipes and Drums Band were amazing, they looked and sounded FANTASTIC, many thanks for your time and music lads. Chris came along from Motif8 to sell Para Reg clothing and also donated a jacket to the raffle on the day, Thanks Chris!
We also have to thank our local army cadets for taking part in the sponsored walk, and some of them formed a walkway at the Tavistock for walkers to walk through on completion. Lyndsey had also arranged face painting for the children, we have Lyndsey’s family to thank for this.
St. John's Ambulance went along on the walk (just in-case) thanks for your support and i’m pleased that you didn’t have to put your skills into practise.
We also took along "your message to our troops" box, many of the messages made us both emotional. Many people wrote messages to be sent directly to our troops out there in the sand we will be putting them inside our parcels so the lads and lasses can read them for themselves. I’m sure they will make our troops smile to see they have yet more support from the U.K.
Lyndsey’s sister in law Tracey did a HUGE amount of work in preparation for the day and also on the Fun Day itself so a BIG thank you to Tracey too.
Both Joyce and myself could not thank Lyndsey enough for all of her hard work, of course thanks also to everyone that took part in the sponsored walk. Thanks to the many people that sponsored the walkers to raise funds, yet more thanks to members of the public that just turned up on the day and gave their support to the event and S.O.S.
Many people have donated items or money to Lyndsey for her FANTASTIC event so just a final thank you to everyone that has not been mentioned by name. This event was one of the events arranged especially for the S.O.S. Awareness Week, it has managed to raise a fantastic amount of awareness of our Charity supporting the troops in Afghan and Iraq, at the same time raising a large amount of funds for S.O.S.
We would also like to add our thanks to Tavistock as a company, as without their help and generosity this lovely day may not have been able to go ahead.
Thanks again South Shields and of course Lyndsey, stay safe Ronnie, everyone from the North East sends their support.
