PATRIOTIC    IN MEMORIAM    MISSING YOU    GENERAL

Aboard the same flight

Whether its weeks or months

Sandy or green

We all miss our loved ones,

We all love them so.

Some may be aboard ready to travel home,

Others travelling back, to what as known as a hell hole.

But here at home, sat waiting wanting needing.

Passengers and crew brought together by the same purpose

Be it economy or first class- the distance we cover is the same.

In this for the long haul and no turning back, we need each other at this time,

We are all aboard the same flight.

Sarah S- proud fiancé of a serving soldier, June 2008

Are you proud?

Do I miss him? Seems a silly question to ask.

How do I cope? I wonder at times.

Do I feel alone? In a room full of people.

And yet the one question I am never asked is…am I proud?

Am I proud? With every twinkle of hope and despair,

I wish you could see how much I care.

It pains me to know there are those, who don’t understand,

If only they knew their lives are in your hands.

It amazes me the things you do everyday,

It is so overwhelming; I guess what I’m trying to say,

I love you and you make me so proud, every single day.

Dedicated to Si, my wonderful fiancé, currently serving in Iraq.

Sarah S, June 2008

Two Months

It’s been two months since you went away

It’s been two months since we held each other that day

I see your smile when I close me eyes

Your eyes do sparkle like stars in night’s sky’s

I think of you every minute of every day

In the two months that you have been away

I love you now more than I did then

I don’t know how or why or when

You are so wonderful in all that you do

And I am so lucky that you are you

An amazing person I am in no doubt

And your guys respect you for you watch out

You look after your lads like a parent would

And far more than that and more if you could

You all work hard and in each other you trust

You do what is needed and go where you must

But you are never alone or far from my mind

And when you are home our love we will find

Our love is not lost forgotten or hidden

But you have to stay focused and do orders as written

It’s been two months since to Brize you did go

And I love you still and much more than you know

It’s been two months and three more must there be

Until RNR reunites you with me

Stay strong and stay focused my wonderful you

Patched up in the field with stitches and glue

I will love you forever of that there’s no doubt

So roll on November and You’re Home I can Shout

With You

You are fighting for your country I am with you

In battle scarred foreign lands I walk with you

Under fire from our enemies I fight with you

In times of uncertainty I comfort you

Though we are forced apart I am with you

When you feel all alone I am right by you

When in times of rejoicing I party with you

In times of sadness I will mourn with you

The burdens of combat I will carry with you

The victories of combat I will celebrate with you

The tragedies of combat I will share with you

Wherever you are I will stand with you

You are never alone I am with you

Your love I cherish and hold for you

And in my thoughts I am their with you

For you carry my heart along with you

Never Before

Your eyes are the stars in the sky at night
your love keeps me strong from the fear that I fight
Your smile is the sunshine that brightens my day
the photo's of you are all that I have now you are away
keep strong and safe from the battles you’re in
and together through love we will come through and win
never before have I felt so much love
never before have I prayed so hard to god up above
Do what you must and do it knowing this
I am proud of you my angel and send you a kiss

No News

No news is good news that’s what they say

So I watch sky news all through the day

Then when it’s late at night when I am all alone

I wish that you had some how managed to phone

I know you are busy fighting out on the front line

And I have to be more patient and give you time

Another day passes and still there’s no news

The television’s on and I listen to their views

They do not mention the conflict of where you are

Where you’re fighting in a country that is oh so far

For the long awaited phone call I should not hurry

As you tell me not to fear and I should not worry

They say no news is good news least that is what I hear

So why oh why do I sit in morbid fear

I love you so much I ache that you’re away

So please let’s hope your phone call comes today

I know you are busy fighting on the front line

And I have to be more patient and give you time

Your love for me is clear it’s there for all to see

But I am very selfish and I want you home with me

I want you more than ever since you have gone to fight

The days roll past so slowly and the tears do blur my sight

No news is good news at least that’s what the say

To the lord our God in heaven keep you safe this day I pray

I wonder how you’re keeping and if you are safe tonight

So proud that you’re surviving the battles that you fight

I love you and I miss you and hate the silence of the phone

I can not wait until the moment that to me you do come home

For the long awaited phone call I should not be so reliant

For No news is good news and of the fear I am defiant

On Hold

Like an Angel sent from heaven above

You came and furnished me with your love

To do your duty in Afghanistan you have gone

I pray to god that nothing will go wrong

Come back to me my Angel of heaven

In months we count that add to seven

Come back unscathed from battles hard won

Come back safe and hang up your gun

Twenty two years you have fought for all

It will soon be your time to have your ball

The months will pass in there own time

But I am on hold till our arms entwine

You have your job you’ve trained long and hard

No doubt this campaign will be just as hard

But remember this if things get rough

You have now and always got my love

Nothing more have you to your boss’s show

You have done it all and taken every blow

Keep out of trouble from friend and foe

And for me please keep your head down low

No longer alone in this life are you

Our hearts combined what were two

What happens to you will happen to me

So keep safe come back to me

A soldiers lot is a hard load to bare

But remember my love of all those that care

Each carries the burden when to battle you’ve gone

Of the fears of not knowing there is no joy no song

So come back safe and take our lives off hold

For in our love for each other we’ve struck gold

For the troops

For the troops who fight in foreign lands

Across barren rocks and desert sands

You are not alone but in our hearts

You brave soldiers in foreign parts

Gone to fight for Queen and Country

Gone to fight for all in sundry

You are so brave and gallant too

The world is better for having you

When times are hard the conditions rough

Remember you have your nations love

So proud are we of our service men

And wish no harm does come to them

So pack your Burgan and your day sack

Loved ones wait till you come back

Safe and sound from those foreign lands

Where you do fight on barren rocks and sands

Thinking of You

I’m thinking of you
As you’re so far away
Where saving our lives
Is just part of your day

There’s so much you’ve done
For the people back home
We send love and our thanks
And hope you’re never alone

I cannot imagine
How hard it must be
To find courage to fight
When you just want to flee

I’m thinking of you
As you’re so far away
Where saving our lives
Is just part of your day

You work day to day
Putting your life on the line
Without a complaint,
A refusal or whine

There are things that you’ve been through
That we do not see
So we cannot comprehend
How hard it must be

I’m thinking of you
As you’re so far away
Where saving our lives
Is just part of your day

This poem’s for the soldiers
All the way up through the ranks
As you’re all in my prayers
I send my love and my thanks
